Acne Blackheads

Acne occurrence is very common with sufferers desperate to find methods of
getting rid of it. Though teenagers are commonly affected, it last long beyond
teenage years as well. But a little care can bring the problem under control
considerably.

Blackheads are formed mainly due to retention keratosis when dry dead skin
cells fail to be shed from the skin surface. They line the walls of sebaceous
follicles in the skin, which are the natural outlet for oil secretions on the
skin. The dead cells and thick sebaceous wax combine to block the oil duct
opening with a waxy plug that gets stuck. To get rid of this plug a skin
exfoliant like Reversion Acne Medication is required. The process loosens the
plug adhesions.

At times the plugs are persistent enough to require mechanical removal with
chemical peels or micro-dermabrasion treatment by a skin care specialist for
effective removal and prevention of acne development. This serves the dual
purpose of opening clogged pores and improving acne scars.

Acne is most commonly treated with OTC medicines like Benzoyl peroxide,
resorcinol, salicylic acid and sulfur. Resorcinol, salicylic acid and sulfur
break down blackheads. Salicylic acid also helps reduce the cells lining the oil
gland follicles. The medications come in different forms including gel, lotion,
cream, soap or pad.

Removal of acne blackheads can be done with certain tips:

  • Skin must be clean with minimal oil. Natural and chemical preparations
in cleansers, astringent solutions and masks can be used. Harsh soaps that
irritate skin and creams with oily finish should be avoided.
  • A gentle exfoliant keeps the skin and pore openings free of dead cells.
  • Never squeeze or scrape the blackheads as it can damage the skin around
the pore increasing the pore for more blackheads to develop.
  • Use a warm water compress on the blackhead area with very light pressure
to clean the pore of the clog.

Acne blackheads can be reduced in occurrence with the right diet to decrease
sebum production, moisten the skin and generate new skin cells. Shun cooked
carbohydrates and fats for fresh fruits, vegetables and raw fats.
